General Overview of NRC

Newquay Rowing Club, established in 1921, is the oldest club on the gig rowing circuit (see History ). Based at Newquay Harbour, NRC is a thriving rowing & social club open all year round providing Newquay and the surrounding area with recreational and social opportunities.

NRC has over 100 rowing members of all ages (men, women and juniors) who are out on the water every day of the week during the rowing season (April - September) whether it be racing against other clubs, amongst themselves or just training for such events. There are many races throughout the season, (see fixtures) held over a 2 mile, triangular course in Newquay Bay. During the winter, rowing is reduced to just training at the weekend in our 2 fibreglass replica gigs,  whilst our fleet of 8 traditional Cornish Pilot Gigs are given some much needed maintanence.

                                                                      Newquay Rowing Club

Newquay Rowing Club is not just for the sport of Gig Rowing but also a successful social club with over 500 members. Regular social and charity events are organised throughout the year (not just the rowing season) when friends old and new get together for drinks, a sing-song and a good time.
There is entertainment every Saturday night with regular fun events such as horse racing nights, coffee mornings, slide shows and performances by the Newquay Rowing Club Singers all raising money for local charities. (See Clubhouse  for more info)
